Beth Bianchi

Thank you for visiting Bead Rock!

I live in Pickering, Ontario with my husband and 2 children. We love animals and own 3 cats and a dog.  I'm very close to my entire family. We are very active in our church, where my family participates in teaching Sunday school, fundraising and working at the foodbank.

From the time I was a little girl my mother has always said that I was very bubbly, happy, confident and creative. I have a zest for life and am truly passionate about my creativity. I am a real people person and enjoy meeting new people which I'm blessed to do daily through the shop, church and the many classes that I teach to children, adults and seniors.

I also believe strongly in the importance of being an active part of our community. I volunteer in teaching all types of crafts to seniors which has been very gratifying and rewarding. I have been so blessed in my life that I want to set an example for my children to show them the importance
of giving back to society.

Being self-employed has given me so many opportunities to enjoy my passion for creating, teaching and meeting other people.  I feel that every new person that comes into my life adds something new and wonderful every day.  I'm having so much fun and look forward to each day and what new excitement that day will bring!

Pickering mom draws
a bead on new specialty shop

AJAX, Ontario – Fred, Wilma, Barney and Betty would be pleased. Mic Jagger and Keith would be glassy-eyed. When it comes to jewellery, beads, and, yes – stones - there’s now a new place to go to get a fix.

 "Bead Rock"

That’s the catchy name of a new specialty shop that’s just opened upstairs at 43 Station Street in Ajax. Pickering resident and proprietor Beth Bianchi has been a dedicated beadwork artist for more than 10 years. “One of the biggest challenges facing beadwork artists is finding nearby access to good supply,” she says. Added to that is the distance required to attend quality jewellery-making workshops. With those two thoughts in mind, Ms Bianchi decided to craft a business for herself and over most of October, she and her family have been busy getting the second-storey shop into shape for its official opening on November 22nd, 2008. Town of Ajax Mayor, Steve Parish will be performing the traditional ribbon cutting at 10:30 am. There will be face-painting for the young ones, and Ms. Bianchi is setting up a station so customers can make a pair of earrings to take home, for FREE. – just bring in a non perishable food item for the Ajax/Pickering Food Bank.

The history of beading dates back more than 40,000 years, and in fact, the Hudson’s Bay Company used beads as part of their standard trading commodity. Over the course of 300 years, the Hudson’s Bay Company traded with trappers and middlemen, who in turn supplied the northwest frontier with beads.

Bead Rock stocks a wide variety of jewelry making supplies, including a large selection of beads and semi-precious stones. Beaders will find a collection of those fun and sassy “Red Hat” accessories as well as a wonderful choice of winter scarves, which make great gifts. Expert advice is also on the premises. Ms. Bianchi will be starting new workshops at the end of November. Timetables are accessible at www.beadrock.ca. Bead Rock is open Monday to Wednesday, 11am-6pm; Thursday and Friday, 10am-8pm and Saturday 10am-6pm. “We hope to see you there” says Ms. Bianchi, “and as always, Bead Happy”!
